David Schwartz, Special Safety Projects Engineer in the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Traffic Safety, has achieved a career milestone and is celebrating 30 years of valued service to the State of Kansas.
Schwartz started with KDOT in 1995 in the Regional and Urban Planning Unit. He was named the Long-Range Planning Engineer in 1998. He has received other promotions such as Highway Safety Engineer, Models and Forecasting Manager and Assistant to the Planning and Development Director. He has been in his current position since earlier this year.
He focuses on reducing traffic crashes across the state. Schwartz is assisting with the Safety Corridor Program and researching new data to plan safety improvements. During the years, he has received awards from KDOT including the Example of Excellence and Orange Hero.
He and his wife, Brenda, have two adult children and live in Topeka.
