Effective 10/14/2024, the KDOT 10.08 Workspace is no longer supported and should not be used. All current projects using the KDOT 10.08 Workspace should utilize the KDOT CONNECT Workspace 10.10.
There are minimal differences between 10.08 and 10.10 workspaces. The 10.10 Workspace only existed to facilitate a side-by-side workflow that we’re moving away from.
See KDOT 10.08 Deprecation File Open Guidance for information on what to expect when opening KDOT 10.08 workspace files.

Download KDOT CONNECT Workspace 10.10.02
(Released 10/31/2023)
This workspace contains numerous updates based on feedback received from internal users and our consultant partners. This workspace continues to target Civil Schema 2021 R2 (10.10), so care should be exercised to use the appropriate version of any Bentley Civil platform products to avoid issues. The workspace installer supports extraction of the workspace without the need to have a product installed. Please refer to the updated KDOT Workspace Deployment Guide (included in the download) for more details and troubleshooting guidance.
**IMPORTANT**
This is a minor workspace release that includes some fixes and enhancements to the initial KDOT 10.10.01 workspace. It should be able to safely replace any instance of the KDOT 10.10.01 workspace without adversely impacting projects already utilizing the KDOT 10.10.01 workspace.

Development Updates
Recent development work has been focused on the three main efforts listed below. As noted in the prior update, as a small support unit our estimated timelines can vary greatly depending on the volume of support calls we receive. The intent with these three efforts is to more closely align with Bentley's stated best practice, limit the number of workspaces that require updates, and take advantage of features and fixes the newer products offer.
KDOT CADD Support Development Pipeline
1. KDOT 10.08 Workspace Deprecation (COMPLETED)
- Precursor effort to Software Use Policy change
- 10.10 Workspace only exists to facilitate side-by-side workflow that we’re moving away from
- 10.08 and 10.10 workspace resources are essentially the same
2. Software Use Policy Change (IN DEVELOPMENT)
- Changing to a single, rolling, KDOT approved civil product version that will be used on all CONNECT Edition KDOT workspace releases
- Projects still locked to their current KDOT workspace versions (software environment)
- Currently targeting the use of 2023 Civil Products
3. Next KDOT Workspace (IN DEVELOPMENT)
- All 3 Bentley Workspace assessments have been completed (ORD, OBM, DU)
- ORD Bentley Workspace Maintenance completed
- Nearing completion of Bentley Workspace Maintenance on OBM, DU
- Some KDOT assigned assessment work remains
- Complete overhaul
- Focus on consistency, standardization
- Refined adherence to Bentley best practices and design manual requirements
- Currently targeting 2023 Civil Schema for workspace development
In preparation of an upcoming change to our Software Use Policy, KDOT's 10.08 workspace will be deprecated as of 10/13/2024. Internally, KDOT projects using the 10.08 workspace will be configured to load the KDOT 10.10 workspace resources, and to launch 10.10 civil products when DGN files are opened after this date. The Software Environment designation for these projects will also change from 10.08 to 10.10, dictating that any external civil files exchanged with our internal users on these projects must now be using 10.10 civil schema, and all project files must conform to the CADconform dictionaries delivered with our 10.10 workspace.
While this may sound like a significant change, the reality is that during our evaluation we found there to be no noteworthy conflicts between the workspace resources of the two versions. The 10.10 workspace only existed to facilitate the strict side-by-side application version workflow that we're attempting to move away from with our upcoming Software Use Policy change. We have tested this migration on a number of 10.08 project datasets and have encountered no critical issues.
Deprecating KDOT's 10.08 workspace will allow all 10.08 projects to benefit from the use of slightly newer, more stable civil products and allow them access to the updated resources of KDOT's 10.10 workspace, while eliminating one of the many workspaces we are tasked with supporting and updating in advance of our Software Use Policy change.
We have recently deployed our internal ProjectWise OpenSuite side-by-side environment to our primary project repository, deployed OpenSuite side-by-side applications to users, and published the internal 10.10.02 version of our workspace over the past few weeks. We are currently resolving project schema conflicts, expanding this side-by-side environment to all other project repositories, and preparing for the imminent external release of the 10.10.02 hotfix version of our workspace to align with our internal workspace resources. Every effort will be made to keep internal and external releases of our workspaces synchronized. See prior updates for more background on the 10.10.02 hotfix release content.
Our ProjectWise side-by-side OpenSuite environment now clearly designates the software environment of the project for our PM’s and enforces the use of compliant versions of the OpenSuite software. The goal is to eliminate the repeated occurrence of mixed workspace project data and promote data integrity/transferability between all stakeholders on the project. This new environment should establish that all DGN data on the project will be produced using the same workspace resources, and same version of civil data across all project participants – internally or externally. Any project DGN files provided to KDOT will be expected to have been produced using the published workspace and civil schema version that aligns with the designated software environment of the project. This applies to files submitted during the project to facilitate data exchange between disciplines, and the final project submittal. Final submittal files will be expected to conform to the CADconform standards from the published workspace that aligns with the software environment of the project. Please coordinate with your KDOT PM regarding the designated software environment of your project and jointly contact us if you would like the designated environment re-evaluated.
The release of the 10.12 version of our workspace has been pushed back to the end of September. Despite our best efforts the timeline had to be adjusted due to priority hotfix development and the side-by-side OpenSuite environment implementation. The 10.12.01 workspace release remains a high-priority item and will introduce a substantial change in our workspace resource standardization. As previously noted, migrating project data forward from 10.10 to 10.12 will require significant re-work, and will not be supported.
The development of our v10.12.01 release of the KDOT CONNECT Workspace is now complete, and we've moved on to the User Acceptance Testing phase. During this phase, internal staff are thoroughly testing the release and reporting any issues they encounter. The goal is to resolve these issues before the public release, which is now targeting mid-August following our 10.10.02 hotfix release. This delay is attributed to the implementation of an internal side-by-side environment, concurrent development, testing, packaging, and publishing of priority hotfix content for our 10.10.02 workspace release, and the conclusion of our consultant workspace development project in early June.
The v10.12.01 release represents a significant change from previous workspace iterations due to a considerable resource standardization effort. For this reason, we are not expecting 10.10 projects to be able to migrate project data forward into 10.12 without significant re-work.
Moving forward in Q2 of 2023, we're working on a v10.10.02 (Hotfix) to our 10.10 workspace scheduled for a mid-June release. This update is primarily to fix the unintentional reintroduction of legacy non-annotative linestyles into Element Templates. Simultaneously, we're preparing for our v10.12.01 release by mid-July, representing a significant change from previous workspace iterations due to a considerable resource standardization effort. For this reason, we are not expecting 10.10 projects to be able to migrate project data forward into 10.12 without significant re-work.
Lastly, due to an influx of incompatible schema files, we'd like to reiterate that there should be one workspace for the project governed by the Design Software Use Policy and KDOT PM — just because the 10.10 workspace is available doesn't guarantee suitability for all projects. Please coordinate with your KDOT PMs to confirm project software environment compatibility and make sure to check your files before submission to minimize delays during the submittal process.
