From routine maintenance and emergency repairs to managing snow and ice removal during winter, our field crews work tirelessly to keep Kansas roads in top condition.  

KDOT Field Operations provide a wide range of services to deliver transportation that keeps Kansans moving forward:

  • Construction Oversight: Supervising and inspecting construction projects, verifying quality and safety standards. 
  •  Data Collection and Analysis: Gathering and analyzing data on roadway conditions, traffic patterns, and other factors to inform planning and decision-making.
  • Highway and Bridge Maintenance: Regular maintenance and repair of highways and bridges to provide safe and smooth travel.
  • Managing Kansas’ Roadsides: Maintaining more than 150,000 acres of highway right of way. 
  • Radio Communication System: Managing the statewide interoperable radio communication system for KDOT, the Kansas Highway Patrol and other public safety agencies.
  • Signage and Pavement Markings: Installing and maintaining road signs and pavement markings to provide clear guidance to drivers.
  • Snow and Ice Removal: Clearing snow and ice from roadways during winter to maintain safe driving conditions.
