Home MenuI-135 and SE 36th Street Interchange Reconstruction Project
Project Description
The proposed I-135/SE 36th Street interchange reconstruction project will reconstruct the existing interchange on the south side of Newton to better serve the community and emerging business opportunities.
Improvements include a new three-lane bridge with shoulders, a guardrail, a sidewalk on the north side of the bridge, updated lighting, improved drainage, highway signing, new pavement and pavement markings.
New developments at the nearby business park and the SE 36th Street bridge condition have fueled the need for the improvement project.
Construction began in summer of 2024.
