Project Description
This interchange improvements and bridge replacement project is in the preliminary design phase and includes replacement of the U.S. 50 bridge over Meridian Road and the BNSF Railway southwest of Newton in Harvey County. Replacement of the existing bridge is necessary, due to nearing the end of its useful design life. Additional benefits include reducing future maintenance and enhancing safety. This project was identified as a top regional priority during Local Consult community meetings in the fall of 2023. As a result, it has been selected for the IKE development pipeline. The project may be selected for the construction pipeline based on program funding and other needs throughout the state.
