Eastbound and westbound 119th Street at U.S. 69 and the U.S. 69/119th Street interchange ramps in Overland Park will reopen on schedule. The interchange ramps and 119th Street, which are currently fully closed to traffic, will reopen by 6 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23.
These closures were necessary for safe and expedited reconstruction of the U.S. 69/119th Street interchange, as part of the U.S. 69 Expansion Project (69Express). Access to the Highland Plaza shopping area also will be fully restored, allowing drivers to enter the shopping center from both the east and west.
During these closures, major improvements were made, including removal and reconstruction of the 119th Street bridges at U.S. 69 and reconstruction of 119th Street and the interchange ramps.
Off-peak lane closures in the area can still be expected throughout the remainder of the year, as construction crews complete work along 119th Street and the southbound U.S. 69 bridge over 119th Street.
All current 69Express construction and closure information is available on the project website, www.69express.org. For additional information, members of the public can get regular construction updates on the project Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) pages and by subscribing to the project newsletter and signing up for text alerts.
