Reminder - Upcoming closure
On Tuesday, April 23, the Kansas Department of Transportation will be closing eastbound/westbound E 37th Street N from N Hydraulic Street to N Ohio Street in Wichita.
The closure is necessary for a milling, patching and an asphalt overlay project. Rehabilitation work will occur Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
It is estimated reconstruction will conclude and this section of roadway will be reopened in late May, conditions permitting.
Eastbound motorists should follow the signed detour south on Ohio Street to E 29th Street N, then east on 29th Street and follow the curve north on N Hydraulic Street to 37th Street. Westbound motorists can follow the same detour in the opposite direction. Eastbound K-96 will remain closed for bridge construction. The on and off ramps at Hydraulic Street and northbound I-135 will stay open. Please note, local businesses within the closure area will still have direct access to their facilities. Motorists are advised to stay alert and watch out for construction workers.
KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. To stay aware of all road construction projects across Kansas, go to www.kandrive.gov or call 5-1-1.
