Current Projects

New: The westbound K-96 inside lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, to allow materials to be moved in the median as part of the North Junction Gold Project.
The eastbound U.S. 54 to southbound I-235 ramp will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29, for guard rail repair.
The intersection of 29th Street North and Hydraulic Avenue will close on Wednesday, Jan. 29. This closure also includes the 29th Street North ramp to southbound I-135. The closure is necessary for girder erection operations and is anticipated to take approximately 60 days, weather permitting.
K-15 and Nelson Drive realignment in Derby began Tuesday, Jan. 14. The project will realign Nelson Drive between Patriot Avenue and just south of Red Powell Drive, add a new east-west road near the midpoint of Patriot Avenue and Red Powell Drive, and install a full-access traffic signal at K-15. Construction is set to conclude in December 2025, with traffic anticipated to be open by early November, weather permitting.
The left lane of the northbound I-135 to southbound I-235 flyover ramp closed at 9 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 13. The closure will remain in place until further notice to accommodate maintenance work. Channelizers will guide one-lane traffic near the work area on the flyover ramp

Multi-Year Projects

Gold Project Phase 2B: North Junction to I-135/K-96 Interchange on I-135 and K-96 Construction began Feb. 6, 2023, with completion currently slated for late 2026. This phase includes a direct link for eastbound K-96 from northbound I-235 and southbound I-135, new westbound K-96 ramps to I-135 and other new ramps at K-96 and I-135 interchange.
- A long-term 11-foot width restriction on the two lanes of southbound I-135, south of the I-235/K-254 overpass, is in effect (along with a 50-mph work zone speed limit).
- Southbound I-135 exit to eastbound K-96 has an 11-foot width restriction. Started March 8, 2023. Long-term Width Restriction
Concrete pavement patching on I-235 from the South Junction with I-135 to N. Meridian began April 23. Work for this project has been completed.
K-96 Improvements Project, upgrading the K-96 corridor between I-135 and I-35.
